Junior Information

Junior competitors who compete in any junior and/or open rodeo events.


1. TIME EVENT JUNIOR COMPETITORS:
Must wear properly fitted Australian Approved Helmet with chin straps fastened at all time during the ride. If this request is not met, then you will not be granted to ride.

2. ROUGH STOCK JUNIOR COMPETITORS:
Must wear a properly fitted Full Face Proctective Helmet with chin straps fastened at all time during the ride. The helmet must be appropriately adjusted to fit you and chin straps fastened up before you ride. The chute boss or any officials may request to inspect the helmet. Must wear a properly fitted Approved Protective Vest at all time during the ride. If these requests are not met, then you will not be granted to ride and your stock will be turned out.

IMPORTANT RULES:

  • All junior competitors (including day members) must have suitable proof of age lodged with the NRA Office otherwise nominations will not be accepted.
  • It is compulsory for all juniors to wear a Protective Helmet when mounted or competing in any rodeo events.
  • All juniors competing in any rough stock event must wear a Approved Full Fave Helmet and Vest.
  • Junior competitors can only enter junior events in their age group and age group above.
  • If you turn 18 years of age during the current rodeo season you must still abide by the junior rules when competing in junior events.
  • Juniors competing in open events must have an upgraded open membership as junior membership only entitles you to compete in junior events. Or complete an open day membership for the event day only, however with this option you are not entitled to receive points in the open event, only prizemoney. 
  • These rules apply to all junior competitors, including those holding an upgraded open membership competing in both junior and open events during the current rodeo season.


AGES AND EVENTS:
Please note - The following are the required ages as of the 1st January each year that the junior competitor must be to compete in the applicable event for the cooresponding rodeo season.

  • Poddy Ride / Mini Bull Ride -  7 years and over and 11 years & under
  • Junior Steer Ride/ Mini Bull Ride - 14 years & under
  • Junior Bull Ride - 17 years & under
  • Junior Saddle Ride - 17 years & under
  • Junior Bareback Ride - 17 years & under
  • Junior Barrel Race - 17 years & under
  • Junior Breakaway Roping - 17 years & under

Junior Rodeos have specific age categories for events - please refer to the applicable Rodeo.
